Behavioral Health Pavillion

Nationwide Children's Hospital | Columbus, Ohio

PLANIT Studios was hired to augment Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s highly-acclaimed and whimsical branding for the interior wayfinding of their new nine-story, 376,00 SF Behavioral Health Pavillion. Using their assets, we were able to provide a timeless, beautiful, and family-friendly environment that lends comfort and support during time spent at NCH facilities.

For this project, we created four new biomes, Underwater, Fern Forest, Garden, and Sky, that are inspired by the flora and fauna of Ohio’s seasons. The graphics are positioned in a sweeping, gust-like arrangement that activates the space and guides people through their journey from arrival and welcome, through major public spaces, and inside treatment rooms.

Nature is represented through graphic silhouette, a two-dimensional technique that is timeless and preserves authenticity while leaving room for imagination. Clean details, intentional use of calming colors, warm neutrals, and imagery are key factors in producing the aesthetic. Simple and sturdy materials were used in order to ensure the decoration would be secure from damage. These details create a timeless, beautiful, and family-friendly environment that lends much-needed comfort and support during time spent at NCH facilities.
