Research Building 4
Nationwide Children's Hospital | Columbus, OH

Working on Nationwide Children’s Hospital Research Building 4 (RB4) environmental graphics and wayfinding strategy allowed us to take their traditional graphics and apply them for a fun environment the researchers have loved to walk into every day.
For the newest 285,000 SF research building on Nationwide Children’s Hospital campus, PLANIT was brought on to develop the wayfinding strategy and environmental graphics. Whimsical graphics effectively direct researchers, while staying in touch with the hospital’s distinctive branding. Since RB4 is connected to Research Building 3 (RB3), an embossed “RB3” or “RB4” was added to the sign as an extra wayfinding and design element.
PLANIT also developed a new strategy for naming the individual lab modules that streamlined wayfinding in all their research buildings.
